The Cougar Cookers are proud to make available a $1500 scholarship for a student who has demonstrated leadership at the University of Houston. This scholarship is designed to encourage student participation and leadership in the planning, organization and implementation of Frontier Fiesta for the University of Houston community.
The Scholarship
The award is a one-year scholarship in the amount of $1500 ($750 per semester), beginning with the fall semester. The award will be made to a student leader who has a proven commitment of leadership to the Frontier Fiesta Association and continues to maintain active involvement with Frontier Fiesta during their receipt of the award. The scholarship will be awarded contingent upon the student remaining in good standing at the University of Houston, making satisfactory progress towards a University of Houston degree and maintaining a full-time course load.
Eligibility
The selection committee shall consider past and current involvement and leadership in the Frontier Fiesta Association and the student's intent of future participation. The committee shall determine the relative weight given to each criterion. There are no restrictions to applicants based on sex, race, nationality, country of origin, physical disability, veteran status or sexual orientation.
Recipients of the award shall not forfeit other scholarships, grants or awards to which they are entitled. However, if a recipient applied for financial aid, the amount of the award may be used in calculating the total amount of aid for which the student is eligible.

Permanent Endowment Fund
In addition to granting the above referenced scholarship each year, the Cougar Cookers have created a permanent endowment fund that is used for general scholarship purposes according to the University's needs. The bulk of the money raised each year is for this purpose.
Cougar Pride
Another scholastic benefactor of the Cougar Cookers is Cougar Pride. The Cougar Cookers have also donated to Cougar Pride. Cougar Pride provides scholarship funding for the University's student athletes.
