What is the rodeo cook-off? Where do the Cougar Cookers fit in?
The cookoff is a major event that kicks off the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLS&R). Cougar Cookers is one of hundreds of groups that participate in the cookoff.
Why should I sponsor Cougar Cookers?
When you are a sponsor of Cougar Cookers, you get access to three nights of rodeo food and fun at the Cougar Cookers tent.
Explain the invitations to me.
As a sponsor of Cougar Cookers, you will receive a sponsors badge, which gets you in for all three nights of the cookoff. You will also receive a number of invitations, depending on your level of participation. Each invitation admits two guests on Friday and Saturday.
Do I need to purchase "Cook-Off Area" tickets too? Why?
Before you can get to the Cougar Cookers booth, you first have to get into the HLS&R grounds. A separate ticket is required, which you can purchase at a discount when you sign up for Cougar Cookers (before December 31). The Cook-Off grounds are filled with the rodeo carnival and midway, and hundreds of other booths.
What's so great about Thursday night?
Cougar Cookers sponsors are invited to attend a special reception on Thursday, before the opening of the HLS&R Cook-Off. Because of space limitations, the Thursday night reception is for sponsors only. Often, our honorees and special guests from the UH Athletics department attend the Thursday night reception.
Tell me more about the food and drinks.
Cougar Cookers serves food to all sponsors and invited guests. Our food line includes: brisket, sausage, chicken, ribs, beans, corn, potato salad, all the fixin's, plus a few extra items, like nachos and dessert.
Cougar Cookers offers a full bar to sponsors and invited guests including: soft drinks, beer, wine, and premium cocktails.
